Corey Haim prolonged tragic Hollywood tradition

Corey Haim's story is sadly familiar in Hollywood: A teen talent who discovered drugs as he tasted his first success and whose personal problems increased as his star-power faded.

Haim died Wednesday at 38, another chapter in Hollywood's tragic history of careers ravaged by drugs.

Brittany Murphy's career was rebounding when she died at 31 in December from pneumonia and prescription drugs.

River Phoenix was 16 when he starred in "Stand By Me" and 23 when he died of a drug

Chanel's Fake Fur Ice Maidens

One season after staging a Chanel runway show in a reconstructed Normandy farm, the house's designer Karl Lagerfeld presented its latest collection Tuesday, March 9, in Paris, in the midst of a custom-built iceberg, literally imported from Scandinavia.

The resulting set, where the models walked on icy blue water through ice arches inside Paris' Grand Palais, was an exceptional piece of staging. When first revealed - by winching a giant white thermal case 80 feet up toward the building

As a true audiophile myself I must say that this is exciting news, Vinyl is making a comeback with many re-issues to new release. From Jazz to Punk and everything in-between, even though CDs have been on a decline. Over the last 10 years CD sales have drastically dropped by a whopping 50% and yet vinyl is on the rise up 100% over the last 2 years, not just in the US but around the world. Now that’s music to my ears, will it ever be what it was in the heyday? Most likely not but vinyl is not for everyone it’s for the purest at heart like me. That said let me introduce you to a new record plant.

Napoli, February 15, 2010 – Legendary studio wizard Alan Parsons returns with a live concert recording - Eye 2 Eye - Live In Madrid to be released March 19 in Europe and April 6 in the USA on Frontiers Records. Eye 2 Eye - Live In Madrid will come out in two separate configurations in CD and DVD format.
Eye 2 Eye - Live In Madrid was filmed and recorded at the May 14, 2004 show in Playa Mayor - Madrid, Spain. The location is a gorgeous plaza surrounded by historic buildings and is a legacy to a very fine performance from an outstanding group of musicians.

Alan Parsons’ career started aged 19 when he worked on The Beatles last two albums, Let It Be and then Abbey Road, an album recorded in the legendary London studios of the same name. He soon become a well respected studio engineer and producer, working for Paul McCartney, John Miles, The Hollies, Al Stewart and Pink Floyd among others. He is particularly renowned for his work on the Pink Floyd masterpiece Dark Side of The Moon. This classic album was recorded in 1972, and Parsons’ contribution to the album is legendary.

The Alan Parsons Project, Alan went on to release 10 acclaimed studio albums but never performed live, even after several US and UK Top 20 hits. The Project ended in 1990 when Eric Woolfson and Alan went separate ways. Eric devoted his career to the musical theatre, while Parsons felt the need to bring his music to the live concert stage and to continue to record conceptual symphonic rock music.

The Final Sting

Press Release from the Scorpions:
"It was always our pleasure, our purpose in life, our passion and we were fortunate enough to make music for you - whether it was live on stage or in the studio, creating new songs. While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was – and how much fun we were still having, in the process. But there was also something else: We want to end the Scorpion's extraordinary career on a high note. We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we've always had since the beginning.

This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will start in our home country Germany and take us to five different continents over the next few years.

We want you, our fans, to be the first to know about this. Thank you for your never-ending support throughout the years! We uploaded the very first snippets from our new album for you. And now… let's get the party started and get ready for a “Sting in the Tail”!
See you on the world tour, Yours...Scorpions."

PAT METHENY Releases Orchestrion

'Now,' says Pat Metheny, 'ten years into the new century, it feels like time to try to create something particularly connected to the reality of this unique period in time.' What he's come up with, Orchestrion, is an adventurous 'solo' recording that pairs the composer-guitarist with a phalanx of remarkable, custom-made instruments played via solenoid switches and pneumatics, resulting in the most original set of his career.

Stewart, Fanning rock movie fans in "Runaways"
By Bob Tourtellotte

PARK CITY, Utah (Reuters) – They gained movie stardom playing wholesome young girls, but when fans see Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart in upcoming "The Runaways," they will find a new side -- a wild one -- to the teen actresses.

The movie, about the all-girl teenage rock band of the same name co-founded by Joan Jett in the 1970s, debuted here at the Sundance Film Festival late Sunday to solid reviews, and it hits movie theaters this coming March.

Ostara - is the 3rd release for Wishing Tree

The Wishing Tree is an acoustic music project by Marillion's guitarist Steve Rothery and British vocalist Hannah Stobart who has a lovely ethereal quality to her voice.

Ostara features some delicate and ghostly harmonies, mandolin and understated guitars providing an elegant backdrop to the vocals. Rothery excels himself, playing some fine acoustic guitars and when he lets go with one of his trademark solos, he, as ever, makes the instrument sing.

This CD features live bonus performances of 'Ostara' and 'Fly', along with a live video of 'Fly'.
